The Catcher– A Short Film

The Catcher– A Short Film

Started a new venture recently: Directing!

I just directed my first short this weekend with a brilliant and amazing cast crew. The film, called “The Catcher” is a high school story about a teen who embarks on a crusade to help a homeless classmate. I wrote it and when my producer friend Carletta S. Hurt of IKAM Productions asked me to direct it, I decided to give it a try.

Many thanks to Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts for lending us their space over the weekend of October 7-8. We shot 12 hours on Saturday and 10 on Sunday, and the final product will probably be only about ten minutes! Here are a few pictures from the shoot:

A talented young actress introducing Ms. Taylor Chunn and behind her, the equally gifted Ms. Sakile Lyles!
Lucky enough to work with a professional crew, including cinematographer Sheila Smith and Sound Engineer Rob Shire.
Me, making sure a cast of extras are hitting their marks!
Olivia Crist (to my left) was a jack of all trades– actress, casting agent, and AD! She was great at all of them.
Me and my assistant, the amazing Nana Edu!
